xDDx

The xDDx software package:
An open software package for characterization and design of ultrasonic transducers using acoustic holography

The first part, Holography, is designed for forward or backward projection of transient acoustic holography measurements to identify transducer surface defects and reveal structural details of the radiated acoustic field. The toolbox includes an automated procedure for correcting axes misalignments to optimize the visualization of transducer surface vibrations.

The second part, Simulation, utilizes the same projection algorithm as the first part to simulate fields radiated by user-defined transducer designs in a uniform medium without attenuation.

Features of the complex:
  • The equations used are:
    • The Rayleigh integral
  • Types of transducers:
    • Single-element transducer in the form of a spherical segment
    • Multi-element focusing ring array
  • Methods for fast calculation of the Rayleigh integral to ensure alignment of the acoustic axis position
  • Automatic and manual alignment of the reverse projection of the field on the surface of a highly focused transducer
  • Processing of planar scanning data in the form of holograms
  • Calculation of field projections
  • The xDDx algorithms are adapted to work on both central processing units (CPUs) and graphics processing units (CPUs)
