Student of LIMU Marina Terzi got the award for the best work of bachelor

Student of our Laboratory Marina Terzi received the 3rd degree award at the competition of the final qualifying works of bachelors of the Physics Faculty of Moscow State University (2016). Marina's work is devoted to theoretical and experimental study of a special type of wave beams - vortex ultrasonic beams. Our congratulations to Marina with another success!

LIMU participated in Russian school-seminar «Waves-2016»

In June 2016 LIMU team has participated in XV Russian school-seminar «Wave phenomena in heterogeneous media» named after Professor Anatoliy Sukhorukov. Staff members and students of LIMU gave oral presentations and took an active part in work of school.

Students of LIMU gave talks at the conference «Lomonosov 2016»

Students of LIMU Marina Terzi, Dima Sukhoruchkin, Katya Ponomarchuk, and Nastya Bobina gave talks at the conference «Lomonosov 2016». Marina Terzi talked about vortex acoustic beams. Dima Sukhoruchkin showed a model of virtual ultrasound scaner. Katya Ponomarchuk presented morphological analysis of histotripsy lesions in biological tissues. Nastya Bobina demonstrated how to use CT-images for nonlinear modeling of focused ultrasound beams propagating through inhomogeneous human tissues. Congratulations to our young colleagues with successful talks!

Maria Karzova got a Ph.D. from Moscow State University and Ecole Centrale de Lyon

A Ph.D. student of LIMU Maria Karzova brilliantly defended her thesis "Nonlinear focusing and reflection of shock acoustic waves: applications in medical ultrasound and aeroacoustics" on 10th of March 2016 in Moscow. In 2012 she got a Ph.D. scholarship "cotutelle" from the French government and then performed her thesis in collaboration between Moscow State University and Ecole Centrale de Lyon. Finally, Maria got her Ph.D. from both universities. Congratulations to Dr. Karzova!

V.A. Khokhlova and O.A. Sapozhnikov visited Nanjing University and gave lectures at the Institute of Acoustics

V.A. Khokhlova and O.A. Sapozhnikov gave lectures at the Institute of Acoustics, School of Physics of Nanjing University in China. Prof. Khokhlova presented a talk "Methods of characterizing medical ultrasound fields using nonlinear simulations with a boundary condition obtained from measurements" and Prof. Sapozhnikov talked on "Acoustic fountains, ultrasonic atomization, and their possible role in the biological tissue damage by HIFU". Slogan for the students at the entrance to the university: be honest, be strong, study well, and work hard.
