From June 1 to 6, 2025, LIMU students, postgraduates and research fellows traditionally took part in the XXXVI All-Russian School-seminar “Wave phenomena: Physics and Applications” named after Professor A.P. Sukhorukov (“Waves“) which was held at the Krasnovidovo Moscow State University Recreation Center on the shore of the Mozhaisk Reservoir. LIMU research fellows Sergey A. Tsysar, Anastasia V. Lapina, Alisa A. Krokhmal, and Oleg A. Sapozhnikov were part of the organizing and program committees.
Our laboratory presented five oral reports in the sections ‘Bio- and medical applications of wave physics’ and ‘Acoustics of inhomogeneous media’.
- Alisa A. Krokhmal spoke about the analysis of skull density changes following drug therapy in the context of enhancing transcranial ultrasound treatment efficacy;
- Liubov Kotelnikova shared her results on experimental measurements and numerical modeling of the acoustic radiation force acting on a cylindrical scatterer in water;
- Maria Sergeeva discussed her investigations on the features of difference-frequency wave generation by a focused ultrasound source with biharmonic pumping for biomedical applications;
- Egor Petrov proposed the use of absorbing layers to suppress reverberations between a piezoelectric source and a solid scatterer in acoustic radiation force studies;
- Liliya Papikyan presented the results of a pilot experiment on mechanical fractionation of ex vivo leiomyosarcoma with boiling histotripsy.
LIMU presentations sparked lively discussions and were well-received by the professional community.
Following audience voting, our graduate student Liubov Kotelnikova was awarded a certificate for the best presentation at the conference!
Besides the scientific program, the conference participants were entertained with exciting evening activities: quiz night, board games, barbecue gatherings, music evening, and a scientific quest outside where the LIMU team has earned a respectable second place.
